New Year’s Eve Party Hire Sydney: Furniture for the Countdown

There’s a big difference between hosting a New Year’s Eve party and just having people over on New Year’s Eve. The difference is usually furniture. A few cocktail tables and bar stools turn your backyard, rooftop, or lounge room into an actual event — not just a kitchen bench party where everyone crowds around the chips.

Here’s how to set up a proper NYE party in Sydney without the nightclub price tag.

Black Furniture for Evening Events

New Year’s Eve is a night event. Black cocktail table covers and black bar stools look sharp after dark, especially with some fairy lights or candles around the space. White works too, but most of our NYE bookings go with black — it suits the vibe.

Every cocktail table comes with a fitted cover (black or white) included in the $20 hire price. Bar stools are $5 each in either colour.

Backyard Countdown Setup

The classic Sydney NYE is a backyard party with harbour fireworks on the telly (or the real thing if you’ve got the view). Here’s a setup that works for 30-50 guests:

  • 4-6 cocktail tables: $80-$120
  • 20-25 bar stools: $100-$125
  • Total: $180-$245

Spread the tables around the yard so people have somewhere to put their drinks and plates. Cluster a couple near the food and keep at least one near the TV or projector screen for the countdown.

Rooftop and Balcony Parties

If you’ve got a rooftop or a decent balcony, cocktail tables are the best use of limited space. They have a small footprint compared to dining tables, so you fit more people comfortably without blocking the view.

For a rooftop setup of 20-30 people, 3-4 cocktail tables and 12-15 stools is plenty. That’s $60-$80 for tables and $60-$75 for stools — under $160 for the lot.

House Parties That Actually Feel Like Events

Even if you’re hosting indoors, cocktail tables elevate the space. Put one in the lounge room, one in the kitchen, and one outside. People naturally spread out instead of all piling into one room.

At $20 per table, it costs less than the champagne. And unlike the champagne, you can return the tables.

Will You Deliver on New Year’s Eve?

This is the question we get every year. Here’s how it works:

We deliver the day before — typically the 30th or 31st of December — and pick up after the long weekend, usually on the 2nd or 3rd of January. The 4-day hire period covers the entire NYE window, so there’s no pressure to pack everything up on New Year’s Day.

Delivery pricing from Kingsgrove:

  • 0-10km: $100 each way
  • 10-20km: $150 each way
  • 20-30km: $200 each way
  • 30-40km: $250 each way

If you’d rather save on delivery, free pickup from our Kingsgrove warehouse is always an option. The tables and stools fit in most SUVs and utes.

A Realistic NYE Budget

Here’s what a solid 40-person New Year’s Eve party looks like:

  • 5 cocktail tables with black covers: $100
  • 20 black bar stools: $100
  • Delivery and pickup (within 10km): $200
  • Total: $400

Split that between a few mates and it’s barely the cost of a restaurant booking — except you’re hosting at home, on your terms, with your playlist.

Book Before Christmas

NYE stock goes fast, especially because it overlaps with Christmas party season. If you’re hosting, don’t wait until the 28th to start looking for furniture. Get it locked in before Christmas and you’ll have one less thing to sort during the busiest week of the year.

We’ve furnished over 460 events across Sydney since 2019, and NYE parties are always a highlight.
