Here’s what works for 21st birthday parties in Sydney, and what it’ll cost.
The cake is always a centrepiece at a 21st. Whether it’s a three-tier showpiece or a custom slab cake with “Happy 21st” across it, that cake needs to be front and centre.

A lot of 21sts happen in share houses, apartments, or someone’s parents’ lounge room. Space is tight, and you don’t want to overcrowd the room.
For a small space (20-30 guests):
Total: $140-$160 (before delivery)
Cocktail tables take up less floor space than traditional tables and chairs, and guests can move around them easily. They’re perfect for standing-room parties where people drift between the kitchen, the living room, and the backyard.
If you’ve got a backyard, you’ve got more room to work with. Spread tables across the space so guests aren’t all bunched in one spot.
For a backyard party (40-60 guests):
Total: $180-$245 (before delivery)
Put a couple of tables near the drinks, a couple near the food, and leave the rest in open areas for guests to gather around. The cake plinth goes wherever you want the cake to be the star — usually near the entrance or at the back of the main entertaining area.
Every piece of furniture comes in black or white with a fitted stretch cover.
If you’re not sure, black is the safe bet for a 21st. Most 21sts are evening events and black furniture gives the space a nightclub-meets-lounge feel without spending nightclub money.
